Abstract
Responsible sourcing has become critically important for global supply chains. To mitigate environmental and social risks, buyers increasingly rely on supplier responsibility audits. This talk investigates the optimal design of such auditing mechanisms, comparing two widely adopted policies: Zero Tolerance and Continuous Improvement. We develop a game-theoretic model that explicitly incorporates follow-up audits, a crucial but underexplored feature in the relevant literature, and examine how these policies shape suppliers’ investments in risk mitigation.
