March 4, 2025 | Chengdu—The School of Economics and Management (SEM) at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) hosted a visiting delegation from the Business School of Lingnan University, Hong Kong, led by its Dean, Leng Mingming on Mar. 4, 2025. The visit marked a significant step toward deepening academic cooperation and institutional exchange between the two business schools.

Dean Han Ke extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and delivered an introductory presentation outlining SEMs academic structure, research priorities, and student development initiatives. He emphasized SEM’s commitment to global engagement and high-quality talent cultivation in the field of business and management.

The Lingnan delegation was joined by key members of SEM's leadership team, including Yu Xiaoying, Deputy Party Secretary of the CPC SEM Committee; Yan Libin, Deputy Party Secretary and Party Secretary for Discipline Inspection; Associate Deans Nie Jiajia and Ma Feng; and He Peng, Director of Administrative Office.

In his remarks, Dean Leng highlighted Lingnan University’s established programs in student and faculty mobility, underscoring the institution’s strategic focus on cross-institutional collaboration and cultural exchange within Greater China and beyond.

Discussions centered on joint academic endeavors, including collaborative research projects, public lectures, and seminars. A particularly promising initiative under exploration is a dual-supervision framework for doctoral students, where faculty from each institution would jointly supervise PhD candidates enrolled at the partner school—aimed at enhancing research quality and international exposure for doctoral students.

Both parties expressed mutual enthusiasm for advancing these collaborative efforts. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to sustained dialogue and structured cooperation, laying a solid foundation for future partnerships aimed at cultivating the next generation of globally competitive business leaders.
