September 5, 2025 | Chengdu—A high-level delegation from the School of Economics and Management (SEM) at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) conducted a strategic research visit to Qingbaijiang District, Chengdu, underscoring the institution’s growing engagement in smart logistics innovation and industry-academia collaboration.
Led by Ms. Jiang Jia, Secretary of the CPC SEM Committee, and Professor Han Ke, Dean of SEM, the delegation participated in two landmark events: the official launch of the Qingbaijiang District Smart Logistics Scenario List and the signing ceremony for the Southwest Jiaotong University–Qingbaijiang Unmanned Logistics Science and Technology Innovation Park project.

The initiative marks a significant step forward in advancing new-quality productive forces within the logistics sector through a tripartite cooperation framework involving the Qingbaijiang District People’s Government, Southwest Jiaotong University, and Zhejiang E-P Equipment Co., Ltd. This partnership aims to establish a cutting-edge innovation hub dedicated to unmanned logistics technologies, positioning Qingbaijiang as a national leader in intelligent logistics ecosystems.
Located within the Chengdu International Railway Port Economic and Technological Development Zone, the Innovation Park will operate under a “1+1+N” collaborative model—integrating one research base, one industrial platform, and multiple application scenarios. The first phase will feature a 1,500-square-meter R&D center leveraging the railway port’s infrastructure as a real-world testing ground for integrated vehicle-road-transport systems, talent cultivation, and applied research. The project also plans to pursue recognition as a provincial- or national-level innovation platform to further strengthen its technological capabilities.
In remarks following the signing, Professor Han Ke highlighted SEM’s pivotal role in driving interdisciplinary innovation. “We will fully utilize the research and talent advantages of our Low-Altitude Economy Industry Research Institute,” he said, “aligning SWJTU’s strategic priorities with local development needs to accelerate the transformation of academic achievements into tangible industrial value.”

Prior to the ceremony, Professor Han delivered exclusive insights in a media interview, emphasizing the school’s commitment to cultivating future-ready talent and co-developing curricula tailored to emerging logistics technologies in partnership with industry leaders.

The delegation also toured the Chengdu International Railway Port Exhibition Center, where they explored the port’s evolution from a regional freight terminal into a national gateway for international trade. Through interactive displays, digital dashboards, and physical models—including a dynamic sandbox exhibit—they gained comprehensive insight into the operational success of the China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu), particularly in channel expansion, cargo aggregation, and cross-border cooperation.

This visit has solidified a robust “industry-academia-research-application” alliance among SEM, the Qingbaijiang District Government, and leading logistics enterprises. It offers faculty and students enhanced opportunities for hands-on learning and real-world problem solving while charting a clear roadmap for future collaborative innovation.
Looking ahead, SEM will l actively participate in the Innovation Park’s working group, forming interdisciplinary teams to address key technological challenges in unmanned logistics. In talent development, the school will collaborate with enterprises to design specialized courses and support student-led innovation projects. In platform development, SEM aims to help transform the park into a demonstration zone for science-education integration and industry-university synergy.
By leveraging this innovation park as a catalyst, SEM reaffirms its commitment to deepening regional cooperation across the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, contributing academic expertise and high-caliber talent to advance sustainable, intelligent logistics development in South-Western China.
